Beckham, De Niro, even Kate Middleton – they’re all joining the…Power bandwagon

It’s the latest must-have accessory for the world’s biggest stars and it costs just $29.95.  Robert De Niro, David Beckham, Gerard Butler, Demi Moore and Kate Middleton have all taken to wearing ‘mystical’ black silicone wrist bands – which they believe will boost their performance.

The Power Balance bands incorporate a hologram which its manufacturer claims is ‘infused with healing and restorative powers’.  The bands are meant to enhance the body’s positive frequencies and block out negative ones from devices such as mobile telephones and radios.

Sports stars including Beckham, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal and Formula?1 racer Rubens ­Barrichello have been wearing the bracelets at work and play.

Now Hollywood stars have also adopted them despite claims they are mere lucky charms without any scientific or medical benefit.

Brooklyn-based designer Shabd Simon-Alexander’s artistically galactic tie-dyes have helped make it fashion’s print-of-the-moment. In a fitting collaboration, Shabd teamed up with CH favorite Baggu, using them as the perfect blank canvas (literally) for an affordable line of totes and backpacks awash in celestial streaks and textures.

Baggu’s functional Duck Bag and Backpack are each dyed by hand in one of five muted hues to get Shabd’s far-out watercolor effects. It was only a matter of time before the average blowdryer got a makeover.

And the Conair-owned BaByliss brand has teamed up with sports car maker Ferrari to create a new blow dryer, the Volare.  The blow dryer incorporates a ball bearing design to reduce friction and vibration and is made with real Ferrari parts which means it has 2,000 watts of power and can run for 2,000 hours.  Most hair dryers only run for about 500 to 700 hours.

The Volare is also lightweight and includes a turbo boost button to rev up airflow by 12 percent.  However, there are two downsides to the hair dryer, the obvious being the price as it retails for about $400! But even if you wanted to spend the money, good luck as it’s only available for use by professionals in hair salons.
